MCP setup

Copy the config from Find and Seek. Paste it into Claude Desktop or Cursor.

1. Install and index

  1. Download Find and Seek for Mac (macOS 14+).
  2. Open it from Applications — look in the menu bar (or press ⌘⌥Space).
  3. Point it at at least one folder and wait until indexing finishes.

2. Copy config from the app

In the Find and Seek menu, open MCP (sometimes labelled Agents / Connect). Pick Claude Desktop or Cursor, then click Copy. That puts the exact mcpServers JSON for your install on the clipboard.

3. Paste into your client

Claude Desktop

  1. Open ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json.
  2. Merge the copied server under mcpServers (create the file if it doesn’t exist).
  3. Save. Fully quit Claude (Cmd-Q) and reopen.

Cursor

  1. Cursor Settings → MCP, or edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json.
  2. Add / paste the Find and Seek server entry.
  3. Save, then reload MCP tools / restart Cursor.

4. Ask

In chat, ask about something in an indexed folder. Find and Seek tools should appear. You get a short cited answer (page / cell / timecode when available). Asking over MCP is free — you pay when files are indexed.
